Hsu Chia-Chi

A native of Taiwan, Chia-Chi Hsu received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano performance at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University where she studied with Vera Danchenko and Ellen Mack. She was awarded at Peabody both full assistantship in opera accompanying and Clara Asherfeld Award in accompanying. And she won the Best Accompanist Award in German Lieder Competition Taipei 2001.

Since 2000, she has started her career to collaborate with the international outstanding musicians such as Peter-Lukas Graf, Robert Aitken, Trevor Wye, Shigenori Kudo, Amy Porter, Sharon Bezaly, Judith Mendenhall, Karl Kraber, Philippe Bernold, Loïc Schneider, Vincent Lukas, Shin-ichi Fukuda, Mayuko Kamio, Karl Leister, Justin Lavender, and Sussana Rigacci for their recital tours in Asia and Taiwan. She is also invited as the coach and accompanist for the opera studio of the National Performing Arts Center in the 2007~2016 seasons. Besides that, she appears regularly as soloist and chamber recital pianist.

She is devoting herself with passion in teaching. She loves to share the experiences to young generations. She is now an assistant professor at National Taiwan Normal University, National Taipei University of Education, National Taiwan University of Arts, and Shih-Chien University, where she teaches piano, accompanying, chamber music and orchestra score reading. She has recently been appointed as a Council member of National Performing Arts Center in Taiwan and also been elected as the President for the Taiwan Chapter Society of Peabody Alumni.
