Chisa Kitagawa

Violinist Chisa Kitagawa (北川千紗) was born in Aichi Japan. She began her violin studies at the age of 3. She studied with Yasuhiro Aoyama in Gifu. Since 2006 she has studied under professor Takashi Shimizu and since 2012 (age of 15) she has studied at the Tokyo National University of the Arts.

In 2012 she took the first place in 7th Beethovenl International Violin Competition in Wien. In 2013 she won the first prize in 3th Euroasia International Music Competition in Japan as the yongest participant. In 2014 she was the first prize laureate in the 5th International Solo Violin Competition in Italy, and Grand Prize laureate in the Singapore Violin Festival Competition 2016, in Naleczow & Violin Competition in Poland and in the 25th ABC Audition for New Artists’ in Japan. She has received the Special Commendation Award and 3 special prizes in Bartok World Competition & Festival 2017 in Hungary.

Most recently, she was awarded the Second Prize and Audience Prize at the Singapore International Violin Competition 2018.

She has appeared as a soloist with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Japan Century Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the Viennese Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Haydon Chamber Orchestra and Singapore Symphony Orchestra among others. She has performed in Wien, Cremona, Singapore, Moscow, Qingdao, Naleczow, Budapest and many cities in Japan and has also been featured on TV, radio, newspapers and other broadcasts.
