Zhang Yuchen

Yuchen Zhang began learning violin at the age of five. In 2010, he was admitted
to the Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and studied with Prof. Shisheng Zheng, and Prof. Yang Song.

A year later, Yuchen Zhang had his first violin recital in his middle school and played with the Shanghai Chamber Orchestra as the violin soloist in their performances held in the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. He was an active member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, which was invited to the Festival International de Música Y Danza de Granada in Spain in July of 2015.

As a graduate student of the high middle school, Yuchen took part in the Seiji Ozawa Academy in 2015. Later, he was admitted to Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore to become a student of Prof. Qian Zhou. As a freshman in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in January 2017, he performed Bach’s Violin Concerto in A Minor (BWV. 1041) as soloist under the direction of conductor, Masaaki Suzuki.

Yuchen has attended masterclasses given by known violinists such as Andres
Cardenes, Boris Kuschnir, Shlomo Mintz, Paul Roczek, Midori Goto, Pierre Amoyal, Nam Yun Kim, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Ani Schnarch, and Itzhak Rashkovsky.

Yuchen Zhang currently plays on Ruggieri Francesco 1671, generously on loan by Rin Collection since 2016.
